Scrap365 Sketch Challenge

I always intend to enter layout challenges. A lot of the time I create a layout and then forget to enter it before the challenge closes!

I found this photograph from about 2009/10 of when we (Mom, I and Peter) went to our first ever craft retreat. We went to Pounawea, South Island in New Zealand (we were living in Wellington at the time so wasn't far to travel).

We went for a walk around when we got there and found this 'secret' beach which was a great opportunity for some photographs.

The most memorable part of this retreat wasn't even the retreat! This was the year that Chile has an earthquake! A tsumani warning was issued for the part of the South Island we were in and we evacuated away from the coast and eventually got a lift to the airport - where we had a five hour wait for our flight home.

I added some red brads and full stops from the Dear Lizzy Thickers 'Treasure' onto the drops of mist.

Eye Eye Layout

Could I just point that if you could blog psychically there would always be something up here! I can't believe this is my first post since November??

I have an eye infection so haven't been able to do much. Sore eyes just making me feel tired... when they are closed they don't hurt as much... It's been ages since I created a layout for a challenge so I decided to try a Merly Challenge.

You had to use stamps and stamping for this challenge. I got some Distress Stains a few weeks ago and really want to figure out how to use them so I'm using them any chance I get.

If you can see the background I stamped a background in a velveteen stamping technique - still figuring this out too. But velveteen stamping is so amazing!

I added some distressed ripped paper - which I stained with the Distress Stains. This isn't my usual scrapbooking style but it's fun to rip and stain now and then.
Stamped and cut out a few "e"s and "y"s for the title, and added a distressed journalling block.
Hopefully my next blog post won't be very far away...

smile layout

I just finished this easy and simple layout of Layne from a few weeks ago.  I drew some circles in the Silhouette program to go down the left side of the page and stamped a pattern onto cream cardstock to go behind.  A few doodled circles too... and I cut out the 'smile' title from the Silhouette too.

Loving using this new tool! The 'love you' speech bubble is a Silhouette cut too.

For about the last six months, layouts don't feel right if there isn't any journalling so I created a flap so I can put the journalling behind the photograph.

Love Layne! When you ask him for a big smile you get this big wonderful grin and he squints his eyes shut!

What I'm Working On Today.

Time to start printing out photographs and getting some memories scrapped for the big album. We went on a family holiday with ScrapMap and Paper and Scrap Cruise.
On the beach in Fort Lauderdale
Sail away on Oasis of the Seas.
In Jamiaca climbing a waterfall.
On an eco beach in Mexico.
Back in Fort Lauderdale.  I love dry land! I found out that I don't really like cruising.  I like the idea of traveling and seeing different places without having to drag any luggage around but I need calm seas!

August

No post for a while... sorry...

I've just managed to keep my scrapbooking up to date during these stuffy hot days.

Been obsessing about the upcoming holiday too...

Really hope to get into a good blogging routine soon...
